When good RPs go bad Jun. 6th, 2004 @ 10:53 am
That's right, I said it. MP is going bad, and I can think of another that is already starting out on the wrong foot. I am not talking about the quality of writing or the stories told within the actual roleplay, I have rarely any reason to complain in those aspects. What goes wrong with these RPs are the politics. People forget that the purpose for the RP is the fun of putting your character in what if scenarios with other people to see how they would interpet their characters reacting to them. They provide you with a chance to meet people you never would have had the opportunity to, and the OOC conversations are always fun. You learn about the person behind the character as well as the character his/herself in a light you probably never would have considered.

However, fandom starts to sink in. You begin to favor those you know over the new players you don't. Pairing politics, ego trips, and misunderstandings start to build. Next thing you know, mass exodus of fed up players, or those who feel their interests being ignored will leave. There are the underhanded practices of trying to push your pairings on players who have no interest in playing with them, or the famous "I'll make plans with you to make you start out with it, but don't expect me to go with that part of the plan because my interests are with that character over there. Good show anyway."

Of course there are always those who only join to RP with people they want to from the beginning, though they'll decline to say so and let everyone else figure that for themselves.

Well, forget the pairings, the politics, the egos and communicate damnit.

Intro Jun. 4th, 2004 @ 02:43 pm
Well, where do I start? I write, though my confidence in those skills are very low. I was a writer and former editor for Anime Web Turnpike magazine, however that proved to be more stress than it was worth (and a financial burden). So I am now a production assistant at an inking company while I continue to freelance.

I love writing, if only for the freedom to tear the daydreams out of my head and imprint them on paper. Not 100% successful (some thoughts just can't obey the laws of English grammar), but it is a fun thing to do.

I am a lurker in most fandoms, only because it is easier to observe as an outsider. There is also less pressure from the fandom to produce-I write at my own pace and what I imagine. There are many things I have put away for no one to read, those are the ones purely written for me as the audience.

Hmm,that'll do for now.
